Year 3 Learning

Year 3 have been learning how to calculate the perimeter of different shapes. They understand
that the perimeter is the total length of the outside of the shape and it can be measured by
adding together the lengths of all the sides of a shape. The children have now started to use
lengths measured in decimals.
Learning Challenge

What makes the Earth angry?:
Year 3 have been looking at the different types of natural events that happen on our planet
including volcanoes and earthquakes. They have researched their chosen topic and can describe
how and why these types of events happen and the impact they have on the Earth.

Epiphany Reflection:
At the beginning of the Spring Term the whole school took part in our Epiphany Service at the
church. Year 3 have been reflecting upon what they learnt about the events of Epiphany and
can explain what this means to them.

Maundy Thursday Reflection:
After our Maundy Thursday church service, Year 3 reflected on the key events that happened in
the lead up to Jesus' death. They could talk about what it meant when Jesus washed his
disciples' feet.

Year 3 have learnt about the Jewish festival of Passover and can recall key facts about the
event. They can also talk about what Jews eat and drink at Passover and say why.

The children have been looking at the forces 'push' and 'pull' in their science lessons. They can
explain whether an object moves because it is pushed or whether it moves becuase it is pulled.
They also understand that even though we cannot see forces, we can see their effect on another
object. Year 3 made their own windmills to observe forces in action.

Year 3 have been learning about fossils. They can explain what a fossil is, where they are found
and how they are made.
