Trips and Workshops 2019-20
Year 3 Celtic Harmony Trip
Yr. 3 went on their first school trip of the year to Celtic Harmony. They enjoyed a fun-filled day and learnt about life in the Stone Age. The children watched as Esis, a man from the Stone Age made fire with sticks as well as sharpening flint stones and much more!
EXPLOSIVE FOODS ASSEMBLY
The children enjoyed an explosvie assembly when Dan from the Royal Institute came in to explain about the incredible amount of energy contained in foods and where all of the food goes to in our bodies. The children throughly enjoyed themselves and thought it was amazing
ZOOLAB VISITS YR. 4
Yr. 4 got up close and personal when Kate from Zoolab came in recently with real live animals from around the world. Some of the animals that they saw were an enormous African snail called Peter who had 10,000 teeth and a cockroach called Susan to name but a few! The children were brilliant and managed to keep calm throughout.
YR. 6 TRIP TO THE BRITISH MUSEUM
Yr.6 recently visited the Benin Exhibition at the British Museum. Whilst there they took part in a workshop and learnt about the lives of the Edo people and the Kingdom of Benin.
YR. 4 TRIP TO ST ALBANS
As part of their learning about Romans Yr. 4 took a trip to St. Albans to visit the Verulamium Museum to learn about everyday life in Roman Britain. Whilst there the children were allowed to handle different Roman artefacts and visited a Roman theatre. It was a wonderful day and learning experience for the children.
Yr. 5 first AID WORKSHOP
St John Ambulance visited school recently to deliver first aid training to Yr. 5. The children worked exceptionally hard and were presented with their Student First Aid Certificate. Well done to them all.
YR. 2 Fire Brigade Visit
As part of their learning about The Great Fire of London, Yr. 2 had a recent visit from The Education Officer from the London Fire Brigade Team. She taught them about the importance and the purpose of the Fire Brigade, the emergency telephone number, and how this call would be answered, and most significantly about fire safety. Yr. 2 were joined by Reception and both classes were able to see a fire engine and were allowed to climb aboard it. The firemen explained to them why they had to wear certain equipment and when they would use the different tools. They had lots of fun and learnt some valuable tips.
The pupils and staff would like to take this opportunity to thank the Enfield Fire Station staff for their time and for a very informative and fun morning.
Year 2 Royal Tea Party
Yr. 2 parents were recently treated to a sumptuous royal tea party. This was part of Yr. 2's new learning challenge: "Who was the best Queen of England"? The children had fun making their own bunting, decorations, sandwiches and decorations for the biscuits. Parents and children came dressed in their formal celebration clothes and it was a thoroughly lovely afternoon and a wonderful start to their learning.
Yr. 5 Trip to The Globe Theatre
"On Friday 17th January we went on a trip to Shakespeare's Globe. We had to walk across the Millennium Bridge over the River Thames to get there. After a long journey and when we finally got there we met our guide Susan. Susan took us on the stage and we all said a line from Macbeth. We did a lot of acting. After lunch we made our way back across the bridge and got on a train and went back".
Yr. 4's Trip to the British Museum
"Our topic this half term is ancient Egypt and our class recently went to the British Museum. The first thing we did when we arrived was that we visited the different rooms where we observed artefacts which included replica pyramids, Pharaohs, and sarcophagi... There were lots of amulets and canopic jars where organs are stored before mummification. After lunch, we visited a classroom and inside the room were trays full of ancient Egyptian valuables such as a necklace, newspaper and amulet. After that, we went home. We had a great day." Yr. 1's Trip to Bethnal Green Toy Museum
Yr. 1 had a lovely day at the Bethnal Green Toy Museum. They learnt about how toys from the past were made and were allowed to play with some of them. They looked in lots of display cabinets to see what children played with in the past and they enjoyed dressing up and making tea in an old fashioned kitchen.
Reception's Trip to RAF Colindale
Reception were very excited about their recent trip to the RAF Museum, especially to be travelling on a coach that they related to their 'naughty bus' story. When they arrived at the museum they spent time exploring the hangers and the different planes that were on display. The children also found some other vehicles such as a 'doctor truck' which they identified by the Red Cross and the 'bright red fire engine'. The children took part in a helicoper workshop learning about the different jobs that helicopters have. It was a very busy and fun filled day.
Yr. 2's Trip to see Buckingham palace
As part of their Learning Challenge: "Who was the best Queen of England?" Yr. 2 took a trip to see Buckingham Palace. It was a beautiful sunny day and the chldren had a lovely walk through St James' Park. Everyone was very excited because they saw the Queen's horses and the guards leaving the Palace for the changing of the Guards - they were also very lucky to see Prince Charles drive past in his chauffer driven car!
It was a wonderful day and we are very grateful to all those parents/carers who came along to help.
