cATCH UP FUNDING (COVID19)

In June, a £1 billion fund for education was announced by the government to support children and young people to catch up lost time after school closure. In addition the government also identified pupils from the most vulnerable and disadvantaged backgrounds as a particularly important focus group .

The catch-up premium allocated across each school, is worked out based on the number of pupils within it, with the figures calculated from the previous years school census. It is funded on a per pupil basis at £80 per pupil. This means that Freezywater St. George’s will be in receipt of £16,960 (212 x £80) The spending of this money will be down to schools to allocate as they see best however to support schools to make the best use of this funding, the Education Endowment Foundation also published a support guide for schools with evidence-based approaches to catch up for all students.
