YEAR 1 - dISCOVER CHILDREN'S STORY CENTRE
On Tuesday 6th February, Year 1 went on an amazing ‘space adventure’ at the Discover Children’s Story Centre in Stratford.
The Box Rocket Exhibition was based on our English text ‘Look Up!’, which we enjoyed in the Autumn Term.
Please take a look at our photos to see to see how much fun we had.
The children hope to visit again with their families in the near future…
yEAR 1 - SOUTHGATE PROGRESSIVE SYNAGOGUE
On Monday, 15th January, Year 1 took the 121 bus to, Southgate Progressive Synagogue. We were met by Barbara who showed us around and talked about the important symbols that we have been learning about in our RE topic on Judaism.
We learnt about Shabbat – which happens every Friday, at sunset and lasts for 25 hours. We tasted some sweet, challah bread and grape juice.
We also saw the beautiful stained, glass windows – showing the story of creation.
At the end we felt privileged to meet Rabbi Danny, who said he was looking forward to visiting our school.
Finally, Ms. Pavlou would like to thank the adults that supported Year 1 on this wonderful trip!
YEAR 4 - LAMBETH PALACE GARDENS
Year 4 went on a very exciting, engaging and informative RE trip. With generous support from the LDBS, we took the coach all the way from Enfield to Central London to visit the Wintershall Crib Experience at Lambeth Palace.
Led by Geoff, our trusty shepherd, we were escorted to various ‘stations’ across the gardens, where we met many of the characters in the Christmas story as recounted in the Gospels. First of all, we met Elizabeth in a tent, whereby she explained that she was expecting a baby who was to be called John. We were given a feather to keep in our special bags. Following this, we met a shepherd and his sheep! We were allowed to stroke the animals and were given some wool to take with us. Our next stop involved a meeting with Mary - Jesus’ mother! We asked her questions in a stable and received a crib. Next, we met Caspar, one of the magi, who taught us about the gifts the baby Jesus received. He gave us a precious stone. Finally, we got to stroke Sam and Frodo, two delightful donkeys! Their keeper gave us a small wooden donkey to take with us.
We had such a delightful, unforgettable experience and would like to thank the LDBS for generously funding it.
“I liked it when we were feeding the donkeys. It was very peaceful. It told me that Jesus didn’t have to born in a palace to be a king.” - Precious, Year 4
YEAR 3 - CHRISTMAS EXPERIENCE
On Wednesday the 29th November, Year 3 went back in time to learn about the First Christmas. We met a range of people from Jerusalem: Joseph, a shepherd and some of his flock, a Wiseman, King Herod, an Inn Keeper and finally Mary and baby Jesus.
We had an inspiring time seeing the Christmas story come to life.
YEAR 5 - CHRISTMAS EXPERIENCE
Year 5 were incredibly fortunate enough to attend the Enfield Town Community Church Christmas Experience - an immersive activity taking pupils through the story of Jesus's birth. It was phenomenal!
Year 4 - Verulamium Museum
Next half term, Year 4 will be working hard in History to answer this question: 'Why were the Romans so powerful and what did we learn from them?'. On Wednesday, in order to give us an introduction to this topic, we visited St. Albans to help us appreciate the Romans' impact on Britain. St Albans used to be a Roman town called 'Verulamium' and we enjoyed looking at many of the exhibits in the museum. We had such a wonderful and interesting day - we even visited a hypocaust, which is a Roman example of a room with central heating! Perhaps the highlight of the day was a fascinating workshop led by a teacher at the museum, whereby the children handled and asked questions about all kinds of Roman artefacts – many almost 2000 years old! It was such a wonderful trip and we all learned so much.

Year 6 - Imperial War Museum
Year 6 thoroughly enjoyed their trip to The Imperial War Museum which was a perfect end to their WW2 topic! They had the opportunity to sit inside an Anderson and Morrision shelter, decode German messages and explore the life-size planes and weapons on display. The day out gave the Year 6 real insight into their topic and helped bring to life this critical period in history.

Year 5 - Royal Observatory
Friday 13th October, Year 5 went on an exciting trip to the Peter Harrison Planetarium in Greenwich. It was incredible to have the opportunity to look at their giant telescope and to sit in their specialised screening room to watch a thrilling presentation on our solar system. We had an amazing time!

Year 3 - Celtic Harmony
What a step back in time!
On Wednesday, Year 3 stepped back into the Stone Age!
We experience first-hand the life of Neolithic Hunters, Bronze Age Potters and Iron Age Farmers. We made our own food (flat bread) even grinded the wheat for the flour. Looked at different tools that were used and made arrow heads (from soap). We also worked with clay to create our own Beaker Pottery.
It was an inspirational day filled with learning! Everyone enjoyed themselves.
