Harvest Festival
Harvest is a time of great thanksgiving to God for supplying us with not only physical nourishment through food but also spiritual nourishment through His love. It is a time when we think of those who do not have food or warmth and the school donates food to the Enfield Food Bank as an act of charity.
'Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.' - 2 Corinthians 9:10
ST GEORGE'S DAY SERVICE
Thank you to Fr. Taemin who led us in prayer and worship on Friday to celebrate St George’s Day. The children who belong to community groups looked incredibly smart as they came in with the statue of St George and the rest of our children were also very well behaved. We were reminded that St George is not just the Patron Saint of our school but also of the whole country and we reflected on how he modelled many of our school values such as: courage, perseverance and responsibility.
'Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.' - 1 Corinthians 16:13
Remembrance Service
On Thursday 11th November, we held our Remembrance Service in the church, in honouring the memory of all those who have suffered or died in war. We then held a two minute silence to show our respect for all those who have lost their lives due to war.
We are very grateful, as always to Fr. Taemin for taking the service and leading us in prayer.
Advent Service
On Friday 27th November Fr Taemin explained in our virtual Assembly about the Advent wreath and candles and reminded us why Advent is such a special season. We learnt that the Advent wreath is usually a circle of greenery with five candles rising from it and that there are four candles on the outside that are purple (sometimes one is pink) and the candle in the middle is white. He explained that the candles are lit in the same order each week so that by the fourth week, the candles have burnt down by different amounts. Fr. Taemin explained that the purple candles represent prayers, penitence and preparation and that Advent marks a time for reflection in darkness, for renewal of hope and for a movement towards a new beginning. We also learnt that the pink candle represents joy and the white candle represents Jesus’ birth.
We are, as always, very grateful to Fr. Taemin for leading today’s service .
